Local Artists

LA has the best music scene in world - most trends start here. But they all start out as just another local artist among countless others. Some manage to rise above the rest and catch on nationally and globally. This is the time of year when awards are handed out for all areas of media and art, the Grammys and Academy Awards are held right down the street from us. We are surrounded by the best of the best, and here are a couple of our local favorites who have recently gone national and global.

Most movies are made in LA, but only a few are about LA. If we had to pick our two favorites these would be the two - both the dark and the light side of life in Hollywood.

The Wild West

Flashback

LA has much history, both dreams and nightmares have been played out here in epic scale. The so-called "crime of the century" happened right up in the hills above us. The notorious Manson murders. People thought the apocalypse was coming any day back then, just like they do now.

But guess what? Los Angeles has still not burned to the ground - it just keeps on growing and living, like all of us.

The Eighties

The Eighties are still not old enough to be cool yet, and may never be. This video proves that, but we love it anyway. And we love LA.

The Hollywood Jesus

If Jesus returned to Earth would anyone notice? Or would he just be considered another freak? We may never know. They weren't too nice to Jesus the first time he was here. Perhaps this time he will be a celebrity and get paid millions of dollars.

It Was 1988...

I remember taking my first step on Hollywood Boulevard, spring of 1988. Things were a little more grungy back then. The boulevard of dreams has grown up a lot in the past 25 years. As have I. I was just a starstruck kid with a guitar and delusions of grandeur. Now I return mid-way through life with a family and already living my dream.

We belong together - as the sign says on Santa Monica Blvd: Hollywood Forever.
